For Brooklyn-based artist Cj Hendry, the journey to international renown has been anything but straightforward. Originally from Brisbane, Australia, Cj was initially studying architecture and finance when she resolved to devote herself full-time to something she actually loved and was exceptionally good at - drawing.

Cj Hendry is a household name among art connoisseurs, on and off the internet, with her work exhibited across Australia, the U.S. and Asia. The artist’s eye-catching, hyper-realistic drawings of luxury consumer goods and flowers have caught the attention of collectors around the globe.

Talk to us about your partnership with Clé de Peau Beauté — how did that come about?

When Clé de Peau Beauté initially reached out, we thought it might be for a small social media activation, which we were thrilled about as everyone on the team knew of the brand. Then, when we found out Clé de Peau Beauté was interested in a larger partnership, we were ecstatic! It felt unheard of that a brand of that level would take on a concept like this, so we were incredibly grateful.

Tell us about your favorite Clé de Peau Beauté product and why it is a staple of yours?

I'm obsessed with The Serum, as is most of my team. We are more skin-care-focused than makeup, so The Serum is an absolute must for us. Applying it as a base feels like it increases the efficacy of everything else and leaves you feeling uber-hydrated, which is my number one goal.

How has using Clé de Peau Beauté changed your skin since using their products?

I feel like my skin's just a bit juicier and plumper, which I’ve always been aiming for with far less success.

Can you share your favorite flowers from the collection?

Oh, without a doubt, it's the Radiant Lily. The clean lines. I'm personally an all-white everything fan and would love a vase of them at home. There's something really clean and fresh about them that makes it my favorite.

What is your goal with this exhibition?

My goal is always to raise the bar, to push myself beyond the bounds of everything I've done before. We are always trying to make the viewer think and question their environment. To be given an opportunity to work with a brand like Clé de Peau Beauté is just an absolute dream come true and really pushes me to go above and beyond.

What does radiance mean to you?

Radiance means... all-encompassing pizzazz: glow, plump, dewiness. Radiance is also internal. It's like you've got the sparkle. Being someone sparkly, inside and out.

What makes your art unique?

I'm probably not the right person to ask about that. I just make the art I make and people receive it in the way they receive it. I don't spend much time dwelling on why it's different. I just make the art that I know how to make.

Flower Market will be open
from September 13th to 15th 2024.
Cj has designed a 40-foot by 120-foot greenhouse for the exhibit to sit atop the FDR Four Freedoms Park at Roosevelt Island. 100,000 plush flowers will occupy the space inspired by the natural radiance and botanicals used in Clé de Peau Beauté products.
